Anxiety

Anxiety is a normal reaction to stress and is a coping mechanism. When anxiety becomes excessive, irrational and disabling more attention needs to be paid to it.  Short periods of anxiety are experienced by almost everyone, but some individuals are more inclined to be troubled with this problem. A sensation of discomfort or apprehension is experienced (both emotional and physical) and, although the person may be aware of a reason for feeling insecure or worried, the cause is sometimes difficult to identify.

There are 5 major types of anxiety disorders:

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Panic Disorder
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Social Phobia or Social Anxiety Disorder

Symptoms of these disorders include:

  • Excessive, ongoing worry and tension
  • Restlessness
  • Irritability
  • Muscle tension
  • Headaches
  • Unrealistic views
  • Sweating
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Tiredness
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Depression

The causes of various anxiety disorders can be categorized into three major headings: Genetics, Hormones and Environmental factors. In many cases trauma, stressful events and use/withdrawal from addictive substances can all heighten anxiety. Homeopathic medication can often help to soothe anxiety and bring a person`s system into better balance leading to a more productive and manageable lifestyle. More about homoepathy......
