Asthma

Asthma is a chronic lung condition whose symptoms include wheezing, chest tightness, laboured breathing and bronchospasms. Airways normally constrict when exposed to smoke, pollutants, very cold air or toxic substances. Asthmatic individuals produce a more exaggerated response and are much more susceptible to otherwise harmless substances and activities such as pollen, allergens and exercise. Stress and emotional duress can trigger or worsen an attack. Complications include emphysema, early congestive heart failure or vocal cord problems if left untreated.

Bronchial asthma is divided into the following groups:

Allergic: this type of asthma starts in childhood and is often preceded by eczema. Genetic factors play a significant in this, as excessive immunoglobulins are present in such patients.

Infective
: this is not hereditary or allergic but may be caused by or associated with upper respiratory tract or bronchial infection usually viral in nature.

Psychological factors: anxiety and stress are often considered to be the sole cause of some asthmatic attacks.

Occupational asthma: this occurs in certain industrial type settings where there is exposure to metallic dusts, biological detergents, dust and other harmful toxins.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a viable and beneficial option for the treatment and management of asthma. Homeopathy treats each patient individually therefore different treatment plans will exist from patient to the next. More about homoepathy......
