Digestive DisordersThe digestive system has
a host of symptoms, principally nausea, vomiting, heartburn, bloating,
cramping, diarrhea, constipation and flatulence. The onset of such symptoms may simply reflect
a normal response to an unusual meal or be associated with some lifestyle
factors such as improper diets or high stress lifestyles. Excitement, disappointment, fear, anxiety and
other strong emotions can cause some distress in the digestive system.
The digestive system has
a limited set of symptoms for expressing distress, so the same symptoms may
also reflect any one of a number of very serious disorders, including
gastritis, or inflammation of the stomach lining. Intestinal problems such as ulcerative colitis
or Crohn’s disease (IBD), diverticulitis, an inflammation and infection of the
intestinal wall, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) which affect movement within
the intestines or even cancer are other results.
Similarly nausea and
vomiting may be triggered by an adverse reaction to a medication, emotional
upset, mild viral infection, ear disorders, migraine headache and motion
sickness or even more serious as a heart attack and intestinal
obstruction. |
